ANNE HIGNELL

Anne is a contemporary, impressionistic painter and completed her Foundation and Advanced Creative Practice courses at the Mary Ward Centre in Bloomsbury, London.

She has exhibited in London and Hertfordshire and her work has been purchased by collectors in the UK and abroad.

Anne’s work is about capturing a sense of the subject, varying between realism and abstract, and she is attracted by colour, a strong contrast of light, or perhaps a linear quality. She paints in a series across several surfaces, using a mixture of medium, building up layers, a process of obscuring and revealing, to achieve a balanced composition.

Anne's work is diverse in subject, and having concentrated for years on landscape, she has recently been exploring the figure in the landscape, bringing together her experience of life drawing and landscape painting.
